Project Access assists children in the affordable housing community in Orange County, California, through its After-School Tutoring and Enrichment Program. In 2006, Project Access was able to help 900 children, providing after school tutoring and homework help, educational games, arts and crafts, healthy snacks, teen activities and field trips. Project Access is able to continue to provide computer and Internet instruction and educational games with the purchase of new computers with funds from the Mazda Foundation. The After-School Program is based on the nationally recognized Building Exemplary After-School Program criteria. With support from the Mazda Foundation, Project Access is working on designing Improvement Plans for each child to guide staff and parents to support a thriving learning environment in the student’s areas of difficulties. Through Mazda Foundation’s contribution, Project Access hopes to continually increase the number of children it helps with its quality educational services.
