Programs: New Detroit Science Center

PROGRAMS

Since 1975, the United States has fallen from third to seventeenth compared to other countries in the proportion of those who earn science and engineering degrees. U.S. students also continue to lag behind their international peers in standardized tests of science and mathematics. The New Detroit Science Center has a key role to play in turning these statistics around, by jumpstarting classroom learning. Students enjoy interactive, hands-on activities that create positive attitudes about science and lay the groundwork for learning more. The Mazda Foundation’s grant to The New Detroit Science Center enabled 775 students, teachers and chaperones to experience the thrill of science through field trips to the Science Center.
